Exhibition, which will be held at Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre (BIECC) on Friday. The two-day event is being organized by Medpoint and held under the patronage of Princess Sahab bint Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, wife of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports first deputy chairman Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
A total of 70 abaya boutiques will be showcasing their designs during the event, which will also feature cosmetics, beauty products and clothing lines. Medpoint board chairwoman Shaikha Noora bint Khalifa Al Khalifa told that the event is expected to attract more than 9,000 visitors. “The event’s success comes as it celebrates the tradition of abayas and shows our pride in them,” she said.
Abayas are our identity and have been a tradition of the Gulf. It has become traditional attire in the six states and its presence has been merged with art. Shaikha Noora said the expo has inspired other GCC countries to host their own abaya events. It is an honour to have brought such an inspiration,” she said.
The design of abayas has allowed the opening of around 4,000 abaya boutiques in Bahrain. This in itself shows the amount of consumption and need for abayas in the region. The free exhibition will be open from 4pm until midnight on Friday and from 10 am until midnight on Saturday.
